Carleigh Beriont is a historian. Her current book project, For the Good of Mankind: Missionaries, Militaries, Marshallese and the Making of US Empire in the Pacific looks at the role played byÌýreligious ideas and actors in justifying US nuclear testing in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. She teaches about American religious history, politics, and public policy at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and serves as theÌýAssistant Director of Undergraduate Studies in Religion at Harvard College. Previously, Carleigh lived and worked in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
