Dr. Kira Hall Awarded Prestigious Zwicky Award by Linguistic Society of America

Dr. Kira Hall, Distinguished Professor of Linguistics and Anthropology, has been awarded the prestigious by the Linguistic Society of America (LSA). Named in honor of Arnold Zwicky, the first openly LGBTQ+ president of the LSA, this award “is intended to recognize LGBTQ+ scholars and those whose work in linguistics benefits the LGBTQ+ community.” The shared, “[s]ince introducing queer linguistics as a field of study in the pioneering volume Queerly Phrased (Oxford, 1997), [Dr. Hall’s] ethnographic and theoretical work on queer discourse practices in India and the US has been at the forefront of language, gender, and sexuality studies.” Congratulations, Dr. Hall!
