Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IA¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉäC) Approvals

If you plan to use animals in your research, you will need to involve ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉäÌýBoulder’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IA¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉäC). The primary function of the IA¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉäC is to ensure ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder's compliance with all state and federal regulations surrounding the humane care and use of animals in research and teaching.

Sponsors do not normally require IA¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉäC approval at time of proposal submission, but many require prior approval to funding. Therefore, *Principal Investigators (PIs) should consult with IA¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉäC and request approvals in a timely manner. Keep in mind that NIH requires IA¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉäC approval at the just in time (JIT) stage, and, if awarded, a project SpeedType will not be setup until approval has been obtained.

If you are unsure whether or not your project requires IA¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉäC review, visit the IA¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉäCÌýwebsite. If you are a new researcher or need more guidance on animal research, see IA¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉäC’s Getting Started page.
