What to bring
- Laptop or tabletÌý
Bring a laptop or tablet for class registration on day 2, as well as the charger for your device. Laptops are highly recommended over tablets for this activity. You may also want to bring a backpack or tote bag to carry your device. - Photo ID and health insurance card
- Comfortable clothes and walking shoes
Bring clothes suitable for both indoor and outdoor activities. Layers are recommended, as some indoor spaces may be cool. - Shower and overnight needs
For your overnight stay in the residence hall, you should bring any needed toiletries, shower shoes, and pajamas. Remember that you will most likely have a roommate! You may also wish to bring extra blankets, extra pillows, and/or a small travel fan. - Outdoor needs
You will need to walk across campus several times and may have your small group meetings outdoors as well. Plan for your own needs by bringing sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, bug spray, umbrellas, and/or rain jackets. - Wellness and first aid needs
Be sure to bring any medications you take regularly. We cannot provide any OTC medications to you during Orientation; if you are traveling from a region with lower altitude, we recommend bringing OTC pain relief medication (e.g. Advil or Tylenol) for potential headaches or mild discomfort - A printout of theÌý, if you prefer to have a paper copy

The ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Book Store rents laptops to students attending New Student Orientation to use for course registration. You can reserve your rental online in advance and then pick it up at the ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Book Store on the morning of your second day of NSO.
- Chromebook: $10/day
- PC laptop: $20/day
You’ll receive rental information, including the link to the reservation form, in your confirmation email after signing up for NSO. Be sure to reserve your laptop early as rentals are subject to availability. What not to bring
- Large fans or portable air conditioners
- The residence hall is air conditioned. Small travel fans are allowed.
- Cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars, pipes, hookahs, vapes, marijuana
- Alcohol
- Firearms or other weapons
- Candles
- Cooking appliances
- Fireworks
- Hoverboards, e-bikes, battery powered scooters
- Recording devices such as doorbell cameras and other personal security cameras
- Large speakers
- Drones
- Pets
These items are not permitted in the residence halls. Bringing prohibited items, or engaging in the use of prohibited items brought by others, may be a violation of the Student Code of Conduct. Any violations can subject you to the conduct resolution process and/or legal infractions. In the case of alcohol and drugs, being in the same space as others using these items may be enough to result in a violation, even if you are not using them yourself.Ìý
Resident Assistants and Community Safety Officers will complete regular rounds in the residence hall throughout the evening. Please alert them or the front desk staff of your building if you have any concerns related to the use of prohibited items during your stay.
Please note that while guests are welcome to help you drop off your belongings and see your room during check-in, no guests, including family members, are allowed to be inside the residence hall once the check-in process has ended, to ensure a comfortable environment for all students.
