We noticed that you've exhausted your allotted 145 lifetime hours of COF funding toward your degree. On your behalf, we've granted you an institutional waiver that allows your COF funding to continue through Fall 2026.

You don't need to take any additional action at this time. This semester's COF hours will be applied to your bill within 48 to 72 hours.

To Apply for Additional COF Hours

If you'll need COF hours beyond Fall 2026, you may submit a Colorado Commission on Higher Education waiver request.

To Postpone This Extension

To postpone this COF lifetime limit extension until your next semester of enrollment, email the COF support team by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026.

Please be aware that if you postpone the extension, you'll be responsible for paying the portion of this semester's tuition typically covered by COF funds.

Dear [first],

Your College Opportunity Fund (COF) stipend can't be applied to your bill because the Social Security number (SSN) in your �� Boulder record doesn't match the one in your COF application.

COF was created by the Colorado Legislature to pay a portion of total in-state tuition for eligible undergrads. There's no limit to the number of students who receive it, and you never have to pay it back.

To Correct Your Record

To resolve this error, follow our step-by-step instructions to update your record by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026.

Do not email anything containing your SSN. Doing so could put you at high risk for identity theft.

Once you receive an email confirming that your record was updated, follow our online instructions to authorize COF by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026.

Registration for continuing and readmitted degree-seeking undergraduate students closes May 21. Schedule adjustment begins on July 21 for current (continuing) and readmitted undergraduates and partnership program students and remains open through open enrollment.

Get Ready to Register

Your assigned enrollment period begins at [time] on [date]. To make registration as easy as possible, complete these tasks now:

Add your enrollment dates to your calendar.
Work to resolve any registration holds by following the instructions in the hold's description.
If you haven't already, schedule an advising appointment.
If eligible, reserve a seat in a course. Course reservation starts Monday, March 23, and ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 27.
Complete preregistration.

Register for Classes

Register as soon as your enrollment time begins for the best chance to get the classes, class times and/or instruction modes you want. For step-by-step instructions, see our registration pages.

If a class you want is full, add yourself to the waitlist and set up drop if enrolled to automatically drop a backup class if you're enrolled from the waitlist.

You have been approved for in-state tuition as an honorably discharged veteran. We want to thank you for your service and provide some information about the potential benefits of becoming a Colorado resident for tuition purposes.

Financial Benefits of Becoming a Resident

As an honorably discharged veteran, you’ll be assessed the in-state tuition rate as long as you remain at �� Boulder. However, if you are 22 years old or older, married, or a graduate student, you can act now to become a full Colorado resident. Colorado residents are considered for state and �� Boulder grants, which may significantly increase your financial aid offer.

Your Next Steps to Petition for a Residency Change

Step 1: Submit Your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

If you do intend to become a Colorado resident and you haven't done so already, submit your 2026–27 FAFSA and any requested documentation. Learn more about applying for aid.

Step 2: Take Action to Establish Colorado Domicile

The clock started ticking to establish Colorado domicile when you physically moved to the state. To prove your intent to make Colorado your one, true, fixed and permanent home, you're required to:

Get a Colorado driver's license within 120 days of moving to the state.
Register your vehicle (if you have one) in Colorado within 180 days of moving to the state to avoid penalties.
Establish additional Colorado ties. Visit our adult residency page and watch the adult residency video to learn the full requirements.

Step 3: Submit a Residency Petition

Use the residency calendars to determine the first semester for which you'd qualify for in-state residency. Once petitions open for that term, submit your residency petition with all required documentation to the Office of the Registrar by the posted deadline.

If this is still when you plan to graduate with your bachelor's degree, complete the steps below to continue with your master's degree. These steps need to be completed before the end of February so you're able to enroll in Summer 2026 classes when registration opens the first week of March.

Apply to graduate with your bachelor's degree.
Submit a master's continuation form.
Submit a BAM supplement form to identify which courses you're double counting and which should apply to your master's degree.

If your expected graduation term has changed, please complete a BAM program change form so we can update your records. If you're completing your bachelor's degree this semester, you'll need to complete the steps above by Sunday, March 1.

Students are considered for different types and amounts of financial aid when they become graduates students. If you're receiving financial aid, please note that your aid will be adjusted automatically when your student status changes.
