Dear [first],

Your College Opportunity Fund (COF) stipend can't be applied to your bill because you didn't include your Social Security number (SSN) in your COF application.

COF was created by the Colorado Legislature to pay a portion of total in-state tuition for eligible undergrads. There's no limit to the number of students who receive it, and you never have to pay it back.

To Correct Your Record

To resolve this error, follow our step-by-step instructions to update your record by 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025.

Do not email anything containing your SSN. Doing so could put you at high risk for identity theft.

We'll securely send your information to College Assist. Once the error is resolved, follow our instructions to authorize COF by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025.

Fall 2025 degrees are conferred. The university commencement ceremony occurs in May and fall graduates are invited to participate. Many colleges, schools, departments and programs also hold winter recognition ceremonies in December.

Undergrads may purchase undergraduate regalia from the �� Book Store in-store during store hours or online at any time.

Happy National Voter Registration Day! Register to vote now to have your voice heard in the November election.

What You Need to Know

In-state students: All active, registered Colorado voters automatically receive a ballot in the mail a few weeks before Election Day. If you plan to vote in Boulder or in your home county, make sure you're registered to vote and that your ballot mailing address is up to date. Colorado voters may update their registration at anytime.
Out-of-state students: You may choose to either request an absentee ballot from your home state or register to vote in Boulder County. You cannot register and/or vote in both locations. Many states have a registration and/or absentee ballot request deadline, so act now to receive your ballot.

Note: If you register to vote in Colorado, you'll be considered a Colorado resident for motor vehicle registration, income tax, and jury duty purposes. Registering to vote does not automatically make you a resident for tuition purposes. Your �� Boulder tuition classification won't change unless you take all of the necessary actions to establish residency and successfully petition for a change in residency.
Students living on campus: Whether voting in Colorado or in your home state via absentee ballot, you must use your mailbox number, not your dorm room number for your ballot to find you. Visit Boulder County's Student Voting Guidelines page for instructions.

In-Person Registration & Voting

In mid to late October, you can visit the UMC Vote Center to register, vote in person, or call ahead to order your ballot to-go.

Fall 2025 classes are posted in �� Boulder Class Search, which means it's time to start planning your schedule!

Note: Registration for continuing and readmitted degree-seeking undergraduate students closes May 22.

Get Ready to Register

Your assigned enrollment period begins at [time] on [date]. To make registration as easy as possible, complete these tasks now:

Add your enrollment dates to your calendar.
Work to resolve any registration holds by following the instructions in the hold's description.
If you haven't already, schedule an advising appointment.
If eligible, reserve a seat in a course. Course reservation starts Monday, March 17, and ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 21.
Complete preregistration.
Search for classes and add them to your shopping cart for faster registration. Learn more about how to search for classes.

Register for Classes

Register as soon as your enrollment time begins for the best chance to get the classes, class times and/or instruction modes you want. For step-by-step instructions, see our registration pages.

If a class you want is full, add yourself to the waitlist and set up drop if enrolled to automatically drop a backup class if you're enrolled from the waitlist.

Upcoming Key Deadlines

May 22: Registration closes for current (continuing) and readmitted degree-seeking undergraduate and partnership program students.
July 23: Schedule adjustment begins for current (continuing) and readmitted undergraduates and partnership program students and remains open through open enrollment.

Note: Registration for graduate students remains open through open enrollment.

Coming Back After Some Time Away?

Even if you're not taking classes this spring, you're still considered an active student if you've been gone for fewer than two semesters plus summer (undergrads), or if you took an official leave of absence (grad students).

To take classes this fall, just follow the steps above to register.

We noticed that you've exhausted your allotted 145 lifetime hours of COF funding toward your degree. On your behalf, we've granted you an institutional extension that allows your COF funding to continue through Fall 2025.

You don't need to take any additional action at this time. This semester's COF hours will be applied to your bill within 48 to 72 hours.

To Apply for Additional COF Hours

If you need COF hours beyond Fall 2025, you may submit a Colorado Commission on Higher Education waiver request to ask for additional hours.

To Postpone This Extension

To postpone this COF lifetime limit extension until your next semester of enrollment, email the COF support team by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 21.

Please be aware that if you postpone the extension, you'll be responsible for paying the portion of this semester's tuition typically covered by COF funds.

Our records indicate that you expected to complete the undergraduate requirements for your Bachelor's–Accelerated Master's (BAM) program in Fall 2025.

If this is still when you plan to graduate with your bachelor's degree, complete the steps below to continue with your master's degree. These steps need to be finished by Oct. 1 so you're able to enroll in Spring 2026 classes when registration opens the first week of November.

Apply to graduate with your bachelor's degree.
Submit a master's continuation form.
Submit a BAM supplement form to identify which courses you're double counting and which should apply to your master's degree.

If your expected graduation term has changed, please complete a BAM program change form so we can update your records. If you're completing your bachelor's degree this semester, you'll need to complete the steps above by Saturday, Feb. 1.

Students are considered for different types and amounts of financial aid when they become graduates students. If you're receiving financial aid, please note that your aid will be adjusted automatically when your student status changes.

*Please read the following notice about a class action lawsuit. This is for your information only; you are not required to take any action.*

Dear [first],

On October 7, 2024, Judge Claudia Wilken in the Northern District of California granted preliminary approval of a proposed settlement of three class action lawsuits against the NCAA and Power 5 Conferences (ACC, BIG10, Big12, Pac-12, SEC). The cases are: In re: College Athlete NIL Litigation, Case No. 4:20-cv-03919-CW; Hubbard v. NCAA, et. al, Case No. 4:23-cv-01593-CW; Carter v. NCAA, Case No. 3-23-cv-06325-RS. The settlements of the House and Carter casesseek to resolve claims that the NCAA and Power Conferences violated the law by prohibiting current and former student-athletes from profiting from their name, image, and likeness (NIL). The settlement of the Hubbard case seeks to compensate student-athletes prior to 2021 for lost education-related benefits.

As part of the proposed settlement, current and former student athletes may be entitled to money damages. In order to identify individuals who might be entitled to money damages, the Judge ordered Division I universities, including �� Boulder, to provide the Settlement Administrator with certain information. For all student athletes from Fall 2019 to September 15, 2024, the court ordered �� to provide the settlement administrator with name and last-known contact information (�� Boulder will provide last-known email), NCAA EC ID number, semester start and end dates, and sport played. For football and basketball athletes from Fall 2016 to September 15, 2024, �� Boulder has been asked to provide name, NCAA EC ID numbers, last-known email address, date of birth, semester started and ended, sport played, highest grant-in-aid level received, semesters of ineligibility, transfer year and position (for football players only).

This court order requires that �� Boulder provide select student athlete, education and financial aid records maintained by the Office of the Registrar, the Office of Financial Aid and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to the Settlement Administrator.

Neither you nor �� Boulder is a party to this lawsuit. You are receiving this letter because the Office of the Registrar is complying with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), a federal student privacy law that requires advance notification before records concerning students are provided in response to a court order. This is done so that you, at your sole option and effort, can decide whether you would like to make any objection or file any motion with the court, if you determine that there is a legal basis that information concerning you should not be provided. Otherwise, �� Boulder intends to comply with the court order and provide the records to the settlement administrator by November 8, 2024.

The Court has ordered that the information provided be protected as confidential and not used for purposes other than the notice and administration of the settlement. This information may or may not affect what course of action you may decide to take.

�� Boulder participates in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA), a national initiative that allows us to deliver education (either online or through internships, practica or other placements) to students outside of Colorado. The agreement also provides students with an additional layer of consumer protection.

Note: If you received an undergraduate degree but are still completing requirements for an additional major, please contact your advisor.

Your Next Steps

Enrollment changes like this one may result in an adjustment to your bill and financial aid package. Check your tuition and fee balance in Buff Portal and visit the Continuing Education website or meet with an advisor to learn more about nondegree tuition and fees.

As a nondegree student, you'll register for Main Campus classes through ACCESS in the future. If you wish to pursue another degree, you may:
