Full Council and Committee meetings are where Staff Council Representatives conduct business and work toward established goals and initiatives.

Constituents are welcome to attend meetings, which offer an opportunity to observe how Staff Council operates to achieve its goals, how issues raised are translated into action, and how we support our campus community.

Full Council meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 12:15-2:15pm MT. Research Faculty Special Committee meetings are held the 1st Wednesday of every month from 12:00-1:00pm MT.

�� Boulder reaffirms its commitment to fostering a community that values every individual and ensures equal opportunity without discrimination based on protected class identities. OIEC implements and enforces four university policies to ensure nondiscrimination. As a reminder, it is important to know what is expected of you and to continue educating yourself about the university’s policies.

All supervisors, faculty, and other designated employees must report any misconduct disclosed by others to OIEC. This ensures that people impacted can explore their options for addressing a concern and access support and confidential resources.

OIEC offers skill-building workshops for students, staff and faculty to help prevent harm and create more inclusive environments. Completion of online education related to the university’s nondiscrimination policies and the procedures employed by OIEC to address concerns is required for all employees upon hire and every three years.

OIEC implements and enforces four university policies to ensure nondiscrimination.

HR Blueprint Project

The HR Blueprint Project will begin Phase 1 of implementing the partner model, focusing on HR roles and organizational structure. In January, town halls and meetings were held to disseminate information and to give individuals opportunities to ask questions and voice their concerns. Phase 1 planning is underway, with implementation scheduled for the fall. For more information, please visit the HR Blueprint project website.

Navigating the 2026 Mid-Year Coaching Cycle

The 2026 Mid-Year Coaching window is officially open! Launched on January 15, this cycle is more than just a task in Cornerstone. Mid-year coaching is a vital touchpoint that ensures every team member feels supported, aligned, and empowered to succeed.

We strongly encourage all employees and supervisors to prioritize and complete these coaching conversations. Engaging in this process now ensures you have time to pivot strategies and address support needs, while there is still plenty of runway left in the year to achieve your goals.

Payday Schedule Change

Beginning September 27, 2026, all nonexempt (overtime‑eligible) employees will transition from a monthly current pay schedule to a biweekly pay‑in‑arrears schedule as part of the Time & Labor project. This change improves payroll accuracy, overtime processing, and compliance. Communications and meetings were held in January. Subsequent resources, communications, and meetings will continue to take place between now fall 2026. Next phase of CO 119 speed enforcement now in place

Don’t speed in work zones! As of Jan. 12, drivers who exceed the speed limit by 10+ mph in the corridor will be issued a civil penalty of $75, mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle. �� Boulder awarded Platinum status for Bicycle Friendly University

Thanks to the work of the �� Boulder community, �� Boulder has raised their Bicycle Friendly University status from Gold to Platinum, a designation given by the League of American Bicyclists. This places our university among only 10 universities nationwide to hold the program’s highest status.

“This award reflects our campus commitment to sustainability and mobility,” said Brandon Smith, Assistant Director for Sustainable Transportation at �� Boulder. “Biking is not just a transportation option; it’s part of our culture and our vision for a greener future.” Check out the �� Boulder Today article about �� Boulder's Platinum status.

Upcoming construction will improve the HVAC system, Campus Dining & Hospitality loading dock, and the pavement between the University Memorial Center and CASE buildings. Many of the UMC’s dining locations will be closed during the construction. However, food will be available at The Connection and UMC Market in the building, and at the Roaming Ralphie food trailer nearby at the UClub.

�� Boulder faculty and staff are invited to submit proposals for 2026-27 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Impact Grants.

Deadlines:

Academic year 2026-27 proposals are due Friday, March 6

Access the submission portal and proposal writing resources on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Resource Hub.

Sponsored by the Office of Leadership Support and Programming, Impact Grants provide seed funding for programmatic efforts that operationalize and enhance units’ capacity to advance at least one of the campus’s five diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. Initiatives are eligible for up to five years of funding that decreases by 20% of the initial award with each renewal. Proposals must include a detailed assessment plan and have support from their unit lead.

�� Boulder launches campus safety app: �� Boulder Safe

�� Boulder's Division of Public Safety (DPS) has launched a new mobile safety app, �� Boulder Safe. The app is designed to centralize emergency alerts, safety tools, and campus resources—making it easier for students, faculty, and staff to find everything they need in one place. The app also includes all of �� Boulder's transit info and maps, including a link to the Transit app. The �� Boulder Safe app is now available for download in the Apple App and Google Play stores and requires an IdentiKey login to access the interface. Going to the airport for the holidays?

Did you know you can travel to the Denver International Airport (DIA) for free with your Buff OneCard? With one stop adjacent to �� Boulder at 16th and Broadway, the SkyRide (AB1) leaves hourly from Boulder Station. If you're taking the AB1 bus, head over to the Downtown Station to improve your chances of getting a spot on the bus. Live by 28th Street? Use the AB2 route instead of the AB1 to get ahead of the crowd. You can also take the Flatiron Flyer bus to Union Station and take the A light rail line. Visit RTD’s website on airport transit options for more details.

Free transportation services: RTD Free Ride, Via Mobility Services and Lime Access

Looking to save money on transit? Via riders can now use their mobility services for free since Sept. 1. RTD’s 16th Street Free Ride in Denver has also started its service again since Oct. 5. Lime Access is also a great way to get around town for free rides if they are 30 minutes or less. Reasons for eligibility include SNAP, Medicaid, and more. Check out if you can add these transportation options to your daily routes.

The Boulder County Family Resource Network has created the Boulder County Findhelp website to support Boulder residents in finding support for transit, medical care, food, job training, housing, and more. Simply search your zip code to start finding opportunities to fit your needs.
