From the Provost: Living the Colorado Creed
Colleges and universities often are seen as places to discuss our ideas, debate our differences and openly engage persons with whom we may not agree. Those debates and disagreements appear sharper and less open to compromise during an election season, particularly an election with as much acrimony as the one currently underway. It is during times like these when it becomes incumbent upon us, as members of the Boulder community, to remember the Colorado Creed and how we can choose to live its values.
Best Should Teach Lecture and Awards Ceremony honors educators and inspires
The University of Colorado Boulder recently celebrated excellence in teaching by recognizing five K-12 teachers, 48 graduate students and three faculty members — Professors Christopher Braider, Roseanna Neupauer and Susan Jurow — with the 2016 "Best Should Teach Awards."
Early Career/Junior Investigator workshop
The Research and Innovation Office (RIO) invites new and junior faculty to a panel discussion on several sponsored programs – including NSF, DoD and NASA – designed for researchers beginning their career. Previous young investigator winners from a variety of sponsored programs will discuss their successful experiences. RSVP by Sept. 15.
Education center recognizes 20 schools, including Boulder's New Vista H.S.
Boulder's National Education Policy Center recognized 20 inspiring high schools nationwide - including Boulder's own New Vista High School - as 2016 “Schools of Opportunity,” schools striving to close opportunity gaps by improving learning outcomes for all students.

Boulder New Venture Challenge kicks off Sept. 21
Organizers of the University of Colorado Boulder’s ninth annual New Venture Challenge anticipate a packed house for the program’s kickoff later this month. The popular program, which is open to the entire campus community and progresses through a series of events and workshops throughout the school year, fosters budding entrepreneurs.

Attend a faculty development workshop using the NSF-developed with former Vice Provost Michael Grant,Wednesday, Oct. 5, 1 to 5 p.m. All five rostered ranks and all disciplines are eligible; first-time participants only. Call for proposals: TECHNEis seeking proposals for short works that tell the story of how scholarly and artistic practices intersect or co-create each other in already realized practice-based research projects. We are looking for relatively short pieces, intended to and that provide access to an artist’s creative thought process.
