Vision & Mission
COSINC is a multidisciplinary research facility and service center in Boulder, Colorado, providing open access to state‑of‑the‑art micro- and nano‑fabrication tools, materials characterization equipment, and ISO 5 cleanroom space. Our facility provides both expert support and advanced hands-on training for researchers, whether they are new or experienced. Serving the University of Colorado Boulder academic and research community, as well as industry and government researchers across the state and beyond, COSINC supports over 370 users and 200 Principal Investigators (PIs). Over the past three years, our facility has enabled funded sponsored projects totaling more than $150 million, representing an investment of over $10 million.
Vision
COSINC aims to be a leader in Colorado for micro- and nano-fabrication and materials characterization by providing open-access services to advanced instrumentation, education and hands-on training. COSINC is dedicated to fostering innovation across a wide range of scientific and technological research areas, including electronics, photonics, quantum science, energy, environment, biomedicine, pharmaceuticals, and nanomedicine.
Mission
COSINC is committed to:
- Providing shared experimental capabilities with advanced equipment, skilled staff and effective training in nanomaterials characterization and micro- and nano-fabrication technologies.
- Supporting graduate and undergraduate research in the applications of nanomaterials characterization, micro- and nano-fabrication.
- Advancing fundamental and technical knowledge in nanomaterials characterization, micro- and nano-fabrication technologies.
- Promoting multidisciplinary research and training by providing access to fabrication and characterization tools at the micro/nano scale.
